1843 Luncheon and Back to School Class

Tuesday 21st May 2024

It was wonderful to welcome back members of the 1843 Society for their annual lunch at the College for the chance to thank them for their generosity and to update them on the school’s current news.

This year’s 1843 lunch had a new and exciting twist with the introduction of the ‘Back to School Class’. Members were joined by three beaks for a class on English, Geography, Philosophy and Russian. This unique opportunity gave them the chance to see how teaching has changed since leaving Marlborough and the current curriculum taught to pupils.

This was followed by members enjoying a drinks reception and lunch in Common Room Dining Room with an outstanding performance on the clarinet by Freddie V . Guests were joined by the Second Master, Susan Wessels, who brought those gathered up to date with Marlborough news and outlined the vision for the future of the College. 1843 Society President, Rupert Mullins (CO 1967-70) spoke and Rev Horace Busk (PR 1948-52) said grace.

We look forward to welcoming members back to the College later in the year for their 1843 Carol Service in Chapel.
