‘Making Healthcare Sustainable with Innovation’ with Professor Sir John Bell

Tuesday 28th November 2023

Marlborough had the pleasure of welcoming Professor Sir John Bell to the College last week as the speaker of this year’s 749 lecture entitled ‘Making Healthcare Sustainable with Innovation: Lessons from the Pandemic and for the NHS. The annual lecture was set up as tribute to the 749 Old Marlburians who gave their lives in the Great War.  The theme of these lectures is the subject of service and making a difference to others. This was particularly apt for this year’s lecture since all recent donors to The Marlborough Difference Campaign were invited, along with members for the 749 Society, in recognition of their support and generosity.

Professor Sir John Bell, former parent and Member of Council, is Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University and was one of the key figures in the discovery and roll-out of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

The lecture was attended by over 200 members of the Marlburian community who enjoyed an interesting and informative evening.
