CCF instructor Captain Sam Brooks recently completed the monumental challenge of kayaking from Lands End to Bath, finishing with an Ultra Marathon of running back to Marlborough College, in aid of the Marlborough Difference Campaign for life-changing bursaries.
The challenge began at Sennen Cove in Cornwall, where Sam worked his way around the coastline to reach the Bristol Channel. During this, Sam faced choppy seas and tough conditions, paddling over 50km in one day. Continuing his journey through the Bristol docks into Bath via the River Avon, Sam then increased the intensity of the challenge by running back to Marlborough College; around 40miles.
Whilst “aware that this undertaking will require extensive preparation, training and dedication”, Sam was “inspired by the Campaign and the impact it will have on the lives of deserving pupils”. As a CCF instructor, Sam leads by example in conquering great challenges and proved it’s never too late to step outside your comfort zone and do something that challenges you mentally and physically; something we can all take inspiration from.
Thank you to those who supported Sam in completing his challenge. Thanks to your generosity, he smashed his target and raised over £4000 for life-changing bursaries. If like Sam you feel inspired to fundraise for the Marlborough Difference Campaign, please get in touch.
