The Development Office

The Development Office is responsible for supporting both the Foundation and Marlburian Club. The Office works closely with the Marlburian Club to engage with Old Marlburians through events and communication. For general enquiries, please email the Development Office or call on 01672 892385.

Director of Development

Simon Lerwill

Simon joined Marlborough College in January 2020 to lead the Development Office team. His prime focus is to work with the College community to fund more life-changing bursaries for motivated and talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. He joined Marlborough from the University of Birmingham, where he was the Director of Development and Alumni Relations and led the team which launched the largest ever fundraising and volunteering campaign in the Midlands.

Jan Perrins

Jan joined Marlborough in 2010, and enjoys working with colleagues to build effective relationships between the College and the wider Old Marlburian community, past and current parents, and friends of Marlborough College.

Christian Propper

Chris leads the operational team responsible for supporting our fundraising campaigns, events and communications. He also works closely with the Marlburian Club Committee on their priorities and goals.

Fiona Cottrill ​

Fiona runs events for the Marlburian Club and the Marlborough College Foundation. These events range from professional networking and reunions to lectures and sporting events with many more in between.

Kate Goodwin​

Kate supports the Marlburian Club Committee, the professional networking and sports groups and works with the Development Office to grow an engaging offer for Old Marlburians, including supporting their volunteering and mentoring activities.

Liz Hinde ​

Liz manages the Old Marlburian database and oversees the processing of donations, thanking and works with the Foundation trustees to ensure that our gift acceptance policy is adhered to.

Ruby supports the Communications Manager in developing an engaging and informative communication programme. She collates news for the website and our social media platform, as well as supporting the Marlborough Difference Telephone Campaign and our Campaign Callers. Finn Taylor (BH 2014-19)

Finn is currently working in Financial/Corporate Communications at MHP Group having studied Politics and International Relations at Exeter University at their Falmouth Campus. He is thrilled to support the Marlborough Difference Campaign and interact with OMs to share stories about their time at Marlborough. Finn aims to get involved with the Campaign to enable pupils, like him, to benefit from the opportunities and friendships the College provides.

Henry Adamson (LI 2016-20)​

Henry is currently in his fourth year at the University of Nottingham studying Politics and Hispanic Studies. Being a part of the Marlborough Difference Campaign is important to Henry so he can help others gain the same opportunities as he did.

Ollie England (CO 2018-20)

Ollie is studying Mechanical Engineering at Durham University and currently on a year in industry working for Dyson as a Design Engineering Intern. As a recipient of a Marlborough Sixth Form Bursary, he knows first-hand the difference Marlborough makes, which is why Ollie keen to speak with OMs about how transformative bursaries can be.

Emily Blundell (DA 2019-21)

Emily is currently at Durham University reading Geography and in her second year. Since Marlborough, she took a Gap year to interrail across Europe and volunteer as a teacher in Sri Lanka and Ghana. At University, Emily is part of OTC (Army Reserves) and performs in the top cheerleading team. Emily is passionate about the Campaign and is looking forward to speaking with OMs to hear about their experiences at Marlborough.

Will Callaghan (B1 2020-22)

After attending Marlborough College, Will travelled Australia and South East Asia before going to the University of Exeter, to study Politics. The Marlborough Difference Campaign is something that Will is passionate about, as after attending Marlborough, realised the significant impact bursaries can have. Feeling part of a community is something that stood out to Will in what the Campaign hopes to achieve.

Fran Strand (SU 2020-22)

Following Fran’s time at Marlborough, she took a short pause from studying to gain versatile work experience. Having recently moved to London, Fran plans to attend university there next year. She is keen to speak with OMs and share more about her experience as a bursary recipient, as well as learn about their experience at Marlborough and build relations within the OM community.
