Poppy  (NC 2018-23) left the College last year, having received a bursary to study at Marlborough as a talented viola player. She excelled at Marlborough and secured a space to study at the conservatoire of her dreams with a major scholarship. Poppy reflects one year on since leaving Marlborough.

“I’m now in my second year studying violin at the Royal Academy of Music and having the most incredible time, playing so much chamber music, exploring new repertoire in my one-to-one lessons and working with many inspiring musicians.

I am part of two different quartets, and we learn a full work each term. It’s amazing to discover so much new music alongside my friends! In the final week of term, I’ll be part of the Academy Symphony Orchestra, where we’ll be playing Strauss, conducted by Sir Mark Elder, which I am so excited about! I’m also thrilled to perform Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen with the Orchestra of St Johns on New Year’s Eve.

I am forever grateful to Marlborough for their support and encouragement in getting me where I am now!”
