Marlborough welcomed Lord Malloch-Brown (C1 1967-71) to the College last week as the speaker of this year’s 749 lecture entitled ‘The Broken Clock: A Century of Leadership and Service’. Attended by over 200 members of the Marlburian Community, the annual lecture was set up as a tribute to the 749 Old Marlburians who gave their lives in the Great War.  The theme of these lectures is the subject of service and making a difference to others. This was particularly apt for this year’s lecture since all recent donors to The Marlborough Difference Campaign, along with members of the 749 Society, were invited in recognition of their support and generosity.

Lord Malloch-Brown, Old Marlburian, former parent and former Chairman of Council, has had a long career in international affairs, development, business, and communications. He was knighted for his contributions to international affairs and is currently on leave from the British House of Lords.
